An undeniable skill for carving everyday images in startling detail, an engaging stage presence, and an almost unearthly voice have earned Edie Carey performances at the Olympic Games, on Ed McMahon's "Next Big Star"("Star Search"), and coveted finalist positions in the 2004 Telluride Troubadour and 2003 and 2004 Rocky Mountain Folks Fest competitions. Defiant and vulnerable, Amy Campbell brings together her classical training and folk sensibilities to create music that reaches into human experience and comes back with stories written from the soul. Her voice strong and conversational, her lyrics allow listeners to relive their own losses through the cushion of distance. After years with a band, she has released her debut solo ep Architecture: Live At The Opera House through her own label BattleAxe Folk. Compelling and raw live performances, songs 95% guaranteed to break your heart; she has fit nicely onto stages with Bruce Cockburn, Jann Arden, and Emm Gryner. booking: booking@battleaxefolk.com / (902) 488-8979
Brooke Miller's alluring strong, gauzy vocals are the perfect accompaniment to her matured finger picking styles and tuning patterns. Her sound is reflective of influences such as Don Ross, Bruce Cockburn and Ricki-Lee Jones. Her independence from these folk, jazz and blues favorites is undoubtedly a result of her youth and upbringing in a musical environment on Prince Edward Island. While only 22, her listening audience is awestruck by the soul Brooke inserts into her first CD, ‘Lending an Hourglass'. Lyrically, Brooke's writing takes on storytelling with a sophisticated, well etched and generally upbeat acoustic driven sound. booking: Brooke Miller Music, RR1 Crapaud PEI C0A 1J0. info@brookemiller.ca. 902-658-2655
The upbeat and engaging americana sounds of Tony Denikos will leave you smiling as though you've been let in on something special and real. Tony released "Time Tells Tales" in October of 2003. The album covers a wide range of “rootsy style-ings” that lead us to examine who we are and what we believe. No joke, this girl rocks... As a native Clevelander, Stone has grown in her grassroots following from grabbing singer/songwriter, to an explosive full band, to record label owner, to producer. She tours the country non-stop. With her first release, My Heart, she made her mark and has her sophomore release, RushMore catching the media. Stone’s campaign has made waves across over 1,000 national and international radio stations, charting along the way. Since the release of his debut CD Walk Along last summer, Joe Rohan has developed a large audience and following that starts in northeast Ohio and reaches as far south as the Gulf Coast. He has opened for artists like James Taylor (August 2003), performed as a featured artist and entertained live, radio and television audiences from throughout the United States. Walk Along draws from Rohan’s funk, rock and jazz drumming roots, and stands tall by itself as a pop/rock Americana record with infectious grooves, soulful melodies, twangy guitars and heartfelt storytelling. Following a varied musical background in jazz, classical piano, songwriting and performance, Rachel Gaudry released her debut album 'Leaving Traces' in 2001. Produced by Zappa drummer Chad Wackerman, the album proved to be a confident debut "spinning poetic ballads with quirky choruses" (Rolling Stone), taking the talented Australian singer-songwriter-pianist on several North American tours and subsequent signing to US label Virt Records. Her second full-length album ‘Bright Window’ was released in 2003 and features some of Australia's most remarkable musicians. With a keenly observing eye, Rachel's expressive songs beautifully sew together "dreamy combinations of words and music" (Sydney Morning Herald). booking: teacupmusic@yahoo.com.au
Aengus Finnan is a Canadian troubadour whose story-style songs paint dramatic pictures of real people and familiar places. Aengus was a recent winner or the New Folk Songwriters Award from the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas and is the Artistic Director of the Shelter Valley Folk Festival.
Truthfully Truthfully is exactly what we wanted from Joel Plaskett (formerly of Thrush Hermit). It kicks ass. This new offering (produced by Joel and fellow ex Thrush Hermit, Ian Mcgettigan, at Halifax's Sonic Temple Studio) is a rock fan's dream and will capture the imagination of anyone with a healthy respect for the music that's been at the forefront of global popular culture for the better part of the last 50 years. booking: SLFeldman & Associates. kemp@slfa.com/416.598.0067
Mark McKay, who hails from the Washington DC area, proliferates beautiful and rugged songs in the tradition of rootsy rock n roll. McKay couples this style with lyrics that are philosophical, romantic, and political; The Village Voice calls Mark's music "Literate and understated, subtle and charged" while Paste Magazine claims "Lyrically, McKay is most effective where he trusts his instincts and ventures into the abstract." It is this unique blend of meat and potatoes rock and roll production and heady, pointed, probing, lyrical imagery that makes McKay's albums, (his forthcoming release, Shimmer, was produced by Eric Roscoe Ambel) so memorable. booking: Bacchus Artist Management 117 B S. Shenandoah Ave Front Royal, VA 22630540) 622-6990. mclarke@thelink.net
